Manager Spotlight: Craig Gaskins

Craig Gaskins has been the manager of the NAPA – Walker Carolina Beach store for a little less than a year, but he’s been a beach local long before that!

How long have you been store manager?

November of last year. But I’ve been at the store almost six years.

How long have you lived in Carolina beach?

My whole life pretty much. Born and raised here!

Favorite beach activity?

Surfing 

What’s a fun fact about yourself?

Blackbeard’s quartermaster, William Howard, was my eighth great grandfather. He was also the fourth owner of Ocracoke. My 9th great grandfather, Adam Gaskins, was the first light keeper of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, appointed by Thomas Jefferson.

Favorite car?

’68 Charger

First car?

’65 mustang. Dark Metallic Blue.

What are you passionate about?

Symbolism and sub context within design. I’m a certified horticulturalist and love drawing out landscape design. I’m designing a Japanese garden in my backyard.

What’s important to you in taking care of your customers?

Customer service. I try to do a lot of my own delivering so I can get out and personally see my customers. Helps create a relationship between us and drive my sales.

What’s the biggest success you’ve had here at the store?

Really just the ability to care about the store more and grow sales in my new role. The Walkers are one of the best companies I’ve worked for, it’s always good to work for someone who really cares.
